Why Joakim chose to share openly

Joakim chose to document the process to break taboos around male hair loss and make it easier for others to understand how a hair transplant actually works.

Plan: about 2,000 grafts

Front

800 grafts – to restore the hairline and add density.

Crown/back

1,200 grafts – to add density and strengthen growth in the crown area.

Nerves and preparation

Ahead of surgery, Joakim described his concerns about aftercare, sleeping position and when results would become visible.

  • Aftercare – the first days after the procedure
  • Sleeping position – sleeping semi-upright for the first 10 days
  • Results – the timeline for visible change

Aftercare: the first 10 days

The first 10 days are critical. The goal is to protect the grafts, reduce swelling and follow instructions step by step.

  • Sleep on your back with a neck pillow to avoid pressure on the recipient area
  • Avoid physical activity
  • Follow the aftercare plan from the clinic

Results and timeline

It’s important to have realistic expectations. Results appear gradually over time.

  • After about 3–4 months – the first signs of new hair growth
  • After 6–9 months – more noticeable density
  • After 12 months – the final result
