Eyebrow transplant

Eyebrows play an important role in facial expression, and an eyebrow transplant can be the solution for people who suffer from thin eyebrows for various reasons. Whether it is due to over-plucking or genetic factors, an eyebrow transplant can give you fuller, more defined eyebrows that look natural and last permanently.

For many women and men, the shape and fullness of their eyebrows can be an important factor in feeling confident and attractive. With an eyebrow transplant, you can restore or improve the shape of your eyebrows, which can contribute to a more harmonious and balanced facial profile.

  • Personal consultation and planning
  • Gentle FUE technique under local anesthesia
  • Clear aftercare and follow-up

Akacia Medical offers high-quality eyebrow transplants performed by experienced surgeons. During the initial consultation, your expectations and wishes will be discussed, and your health and hair quality will be examined. You will also receive information about the cost, duration of the procedure, and waiting time. During the operation itself, the transplant is performed under local anaesthesia and the hair follicles are carefully placed on the eyebrows to achieve the desired shape and fullness.

Eyebrow transplant

Design your new eyebrows

FUE technology is the most common method used in eyebrow transplants because it is gentle and safe for the patient. With this technique, hair follicles are taken from another part of the body, usually the head, and inserted into the eyebrows using small needles. This process is painless and is performed under local anesthesia.

After an eyebrow transplant, it may take a few days before your eyebrows look natural again. The newly transplanted hair follicles may cause some redness and swelling, but this usually disappears after a few days. It is important to avoid touching your eyebrows during the first week after the transplant and to avoid strenuous exercise or activities that cause you to sweat profusely.

After an eyebrow transplant, you can expect your eyebrows to be fuller and more defined, giving you a natural and beautiful appearance. Since the results are permanent, you don't have to worry about refilling or correcting your eyebrows again.

The result

After a hair transplant, it is common for the transplanted hairs to fall out after about 2-5 weeks. This is a normal process and it takes about 2-3 months before the hair follicles start producing hair again. The final result can be seen after just over a year. The new hairs grow naturally and adapt to your eyebrows. Sometimes the transplanted hairs can become stronger and longer than the existing ones, but it is possible to even them out and shape the eyebrows to the desired length.

How an eyebrow transplant works

Draws the desired contours

After a few months

Hair follicles produce hair

Once the planning for the new eyebrows is complete, we draw the desired contours. The procedure is then performed under local anesthesia and usually takes between 2–4 hours. The transplant area and the smaller donor area are shaved, usually from the back of the head, as the hair structure is similar to that of the eyebrows. The FUE method is used to achieve natural-looking eyebrows by placing the hairs in the same direction of growth as the existing hairs. To minimize scarring and damage to existing hair follicles, minimal incisions are made. It is also important that the hair follicles are placed at the correct depth to achieve a good result.

After a few months, the transplanted hair follicles begin to produce hair. The new hairs retain their characteristics from their original location and will grow in the same way as non-transplanted hairs.

Conditions that can affect the eyebrows

There are various conditions that affect the eyebrows. Madarosis is a condition that causes loss of eyebrow hair and sometimes eyelashes. The eyebrows consist of three parts: the inner part where the hair grows upward or sideways, the middle part above the iris where the hair grows outward toward the temples, and the outer part above the outer corner of the eye. Madarosis only affects growth in the outer areas.

The healing process

After an eyebrow transplant, the healing process is short and painless. Normally, you will be ready to return to work after just 10 days. When the anaesthetic starts to wear off, it may be a good idea to take some painkillers. During the first three days after the procedure, you should take it very easy as the new hairs grow in. There may be slight redness in the area, but scabs usually disappear within a week to 10 days. It is important to avoid exercise during the first month after the operation.

The number of hair follicles transplanted varies between 50 and 400 hairs. The results are usually visible after just over a year, and the transplanted hairs grow naturally and blend in with your existing eyebrows. However, the transplanted hairs may become stronger and longer than the existing ones, but this can easily be evened out and shaped to the desired length.
