Aftercare after hair transplant

After a hair transplant, it is important to care for your scalp properly to create the best conditions for your new hair to grow. Careful aftercare is crucial to maximize the result of the transplant and to avoid potential complications.

In most cases, you can return to work within about 10 days after a hair transplant. It is normal to experience mild redness and shorter hair at first, but these signs usually disappear within a week.

Important advice after the transplant

Styling

Styling

Wait at least 3 months before styling your hair with products. If you must style, saltwater spray is preferred.

Bandage

Bandage

On day 2 after surgery, remove the bandage. Do not leave it on longer, as it can dry and stick to the skin.

Sleeping

Sleeping

We recommend sleeping in a semi-upright position, preferably with a neck pillow, for the first 10 days. This helps ensure the follicles are fully attached before the transplanted area touches a pillow or headboard.

Showering

Showering

3 days after surgery, you start washing your hair gently with the lotion and shampoo you receive from us. Detailed instructions are provided at our clinic. This is then done daily until day 10.

Sun

Sun

Protect the transplanted area from sun exposure during the entire first year. The goal is to avoid scalp sunburn, so wear a cap if you stay in the sun for longer periods.

Hat/Cap

Hat/Cap

After 10 days, you can wear headwear freely and generally touch the transplanted hair without concern.

Training

Training

Avoid exercise or other heavy physical activity during the first month, as both sweat and exertion can negatively affect transplanted follicles.

Sauna/Swimming

Sauna/Swimming

Avoid immersing your hair in pools, the sea, or lakes during the first month. Avoid sauna throughout the first year.

Haircut/Shaving

Haircut/Shaving

Wait at least 1 month before getting a haircut after transplantation. For trimming, we recommend not going shorter than 3 mm, and we advise against razor shaving entirely during the first year.
