In addition, the procedure does not require an overnight stay, so the patient can return home the same day the procedure is performed.

Consultation

Vid det första konsultationsbesöket på Akacia Medical kommer du att träffa en samordnare. Under besöket fyller du i ett formulär där du redogör för ditt hälsotillstånd, eventuella tidigare operationer eller sjukdomar, vilka mediciner du har använt samt beskriver dina symptom. Du ska även ange när ditt håravfall började och om det finns en familjehistorik av håravfall. Samordnaren kommer dessutom att ta fotografier som en del av bedömningen.

Vår läkare kommer att göra en utredning för att avgöra om du är en lämplig kandidat för en hårtransplantation. Detta inkluderar en bedömning av vilken typ av håravfall du har och hur många hårsäckar som behövs för att uppnå önskat resultat. Bedömningen sker enligt samma principer som vid svenska sjukhus, där läkare analyserar remissen baserat på fotografier och symptom utan att träffa patienten fysiskt.

Under konsultationen får du även information om ingreppet, inklusive kostnad, tidsåtgång och väntetid.

Det är viktigt att notera att medicinska behandlingar som minoxidil och Finasterid kan bromsa håravfall och i vissa fall främja viss återväxt. Dock ersätter de inte en hårtransplantation, särskilt i fall där hårsäckarna redan har gått förlorade. För patienter med betydande håravfall är en hårtransplantation ofta den mest effektiva lösningen för att återställa hårväxten.

On the day of surgery

När du anländer till Akacia Medical på operationsdagen välkomnas du av vårt team. De kommer att gå igenom hur hårtransplantationen kommer att genomföras, markera den planerade hårlinjen och ta nya fotografier som en del av dokumentationen inför ingreppet.

The operation

During the actual transplantation of the hair follicles on the day of surgery, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia. If needed, you may be given sedative medication to help you feel more relaxed. During the operation, you can rest comfortably in the operating chair.

Before the operation, we shave both the donor area and the recipient area and clean your head. The hair follicles are then punched out and carefully picked out one by one to then be inspected under a microscope. At this stage, you will receive an additional local anesthetic in the area where the transplant is to take place. The grafts are then placed in the channels made by the surgeon.

En stor hårtransplantation på runt 2500-3500 hårsäckar brukar ta cirka 7-8 timmar. Under operationen får du som patient en paus på 20 minuter för att äta lunch. När halva operationen har genomförts, serverar vi lunchen till dig.

When the operation is complete, we place a bandage over the donation area. The newly transplanted area is very sensitive, and we will go over carefully with you how your aftercare should be done.

After the operation

During the first two weeks after your hair transplant, it is important to avoid touching the transplanted area with your fingers, and you must also not wear a headdress or cover your head with anything during this time. For the use of a helmet, you must wait 3 weeks. In addition, you should avoid heavy lifting and physical exertion during these two weeks. After two weeks, you can start washing your whole head as usual again.
