Aftercare

After a hair transplant, it is important to take proper care of your scalp to create the best conditions for your new hair to grow. Careful aftercare is essential to maximise the results of the transplant and to avoid possible complications.

Usually you can return to work within about 10 days after a hair transplant. It is normal to experience slight redness and shorter hair at first, but these signs usually disappear within a week.

To take care of your scalp after the transplant, the following is recommended:

Styling

Wait at least 3 months before styling your hair with products. If you absolutely have to style, salt water spray is preferable.

Bandage

On day 2 after surgery, remove the bandage. Don't leave it on any longer as it can dry on the skin.

Sleep

We recommend that you sleep half-sitting, preferably with a neck pillow, for the first 10 days. This is to ensure that the hair follicles are fully healed before the transplanted area touches e.g. a pillow or headboard.

Dussa

3 days after the surgery, you start washing your hair gently with lotion and shampoo provided by us. Careful instructions are given on the spot at our clinic. This is then done daily until day 10.

Sol

Protect the transplanted area from the sun throughout the first year. It's important not to burn the scalp, so wear a cap if you are in the sun for a long time.

Hat/cap

After 10 days, you are free to wear a headgear, or generally touch the transplanted hair without worry.

Training

Avoid exercise or other heavy physical activity for the first month. This is because both sweat and the exertion itself can have a negative effect on the transplanted hair follicles.

Avoid dipping your hair in the pool, sea or lake for the first month. Avoid saunas throughout the first year.

Cutting/
Shaving

Wait at least 1 month before cutting your hair after a transplant. When shaving, we recommend not trimming less than 3 mm, and shaving with a razor is not recommended at all during the first year.
