Laser eye surgery

This procedure is painless and very easy on the part of the patient. No injections are needed.

Before receiving any laser eye treatment, your doctor will measure your eyes to determine the degree of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. During this consultation, the doctor will complete a thorough examination of the patient eye and discuss the laser eye correction procedure in detail.

Before every corrective eye surgery operation, the laser will be calibrated and tested for accuracy and the level of laser eye correction required for the patient eye will be entered into the laser’s computer. From that point, it is the computer’s job to determine the specific set of laser pulses to use during the corrective eye surgery.

After the patient lie down on the table, a patch will be placed over the eye that will not be operated on. Anesthetic eye drops will be placed in the patient eye. With this procedure, there are no injections or IVs needed. The eyelid will be held open with a small speculum, which again will cause no pain.

During the procedure, the patient will be asked to look at a small blinking light. The patient will hear a clicking noise, which is the sound of the laser. The blinking light the patient will need to focus on will get hazier as the corrective eye surgery treatment progresses. The laser eye treatment will usually take less than sixty seconds of actual laser time. Eye drops will again be placed in yhe patient eye. In some cases, a temporary contact lens will be placed in the eyes as well.

After the corrective eye surgery, The patient can rest for a few minutes before going home. The whole of the patient stay in the treatment room is not going to last more than five to ten minutes.
